Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan asked Congress on Wednesday for permission to raise the FHA mortgage insurance premiums to replenish its reserves. The amount of the increase was not announced.
FHA is also looking at raising the minimum borrower credit score from the current level of 620 established in March of this year.

Congratulations to Cochise County’s Kylee Brubaker, Tyson Estelle, Heidy Kartchner, Rachael Larson, Julia Prieto and Forrest Swift, winners of the Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative’s (SSVEC) Washington Youth Tour.
Each year, SSVEC holds a competition of 11th grade students from the high schools in the SSVEC service area. The competition includes testing, an essay and personal interviews. 700 students entered the competition. The winners receive a one week tour of Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2010.
The schools with winning students are;
- Benson High school: Forrest Swift.
- Buena High School (Sierra Vista): Julia Prieto.
- Saint David High School: Kylee Brubaker, Heidy Kartchner and Rachel Larson.
- Valley Union High school (Elfrida): Tyson Estelle.
