Paranoia Among Lenders

Filed under: Uncategorized — Don Grafues @ 7:47 am

Is it not time for lenders to start lending? The lending market is almost is a state of paranoia looking for ways to guarantee that a borrower is credible. Meanwhile buyers wait to purchase.

In an article in the REALTOR®Mag on-line magazine titled “Lenders Are Studying Shopping Habits” we discover that, “Lenders are experimenting with alternative ways to check borrowers’ credit.”

The lending process has really slowed the purchase process. We had a client who just had a deal fall out. The client was in escrow over four months, first with a mortgage broker then dealing directly with the lender, to only discover she did not qualify. Four months! Seems like a diligent mortgage broker or lender should have discovered that very early during the application process. Or did the rules change?

We keep looking for a good mortgage broker who knows his lenders and can react quickly. Especially one who can finance manufactured homes. And is it too much to ask for one who can do FHA backed loans? If you are out there, please contact us. We cover Cochise County, Arizona.

Yesterday we posted:
Mark Zandi is a brave person. He is a head economist at Moodys. In an address at a real estate forum sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce he said,
There is no other sector in the economy that has received more support than your industry, and it’s time to give back.

Take a look at this article published today on azcentral.com. As homeowners, have we anything left to give back?
