Move Over Napa Valley

Filed under: For Fun — Tags: — Don Grafues @ 10:29 am

Arizona may not be known as a wine producing state but that is gradually changing. Suggesting Napa Valley “move over” may be a bit premature; however, Arizona is establishing a good reputation. Cochise County has a number of wineries and vineyards, mostly in the Chiricahua Mountains and the Willcox area. Here is an article by Lauren Wise about Arizona wines. Let us know if you want to visit wineries when you are in Cochise County and we’ll see what we can set up for you.

One coming event is the opening on March 13 of the Keeling-Schaefer Vineyards tasting room at 154 Railroad Avenue, Willcox, AZ, 520-824-2500. More info can be found at www.KeelingSchaeferVineyards.com.

There are many reported sightings of ghosts in Cochise County. Bisbee has three ghosts who wander the corridors of the Copper Queen Hotel. Willcox has a gentleman with a goblin’s head using a pay phone. Has one been sighted in the desert between Bisbee and Douglas, Arizona?

Crook Tunnel is a little known site on the old El Paso & South Western Railroad. Could the tunnel be haunted? Read the article by Debe Branning “Mysterious Crook Tunnel of Cochise County” from the February 22nd issue of examiner.com. You will also find links in the sidebar to haunted hotels and restaurants in Arizona.
