Freehold Capital Partners, which has developed the program, says it has enlisted thousands of developers nationwide. It argues that this is good for the economy because it will provide builders with more capital.
Seems to me if the builders need more capital, they either raise the price of the homes they are selling or go get a loan. This does nothing for the home buyer and it presumes that the builder will be around for 99 years.

Analysts at Moody’s Analytics say that the possibility of double-dip recession and another 20 percent decline in home prices has risen to about 25 percent.
25 percent is still terrible odds.
Private transfer fees are onerous fees that encumber a title and are placed on a property by a seller, usually the builder.
What happens is that each time the property is sold, a fee is paid to the person or entity that created the encumbrance. These can last for up to 99 years.

Not many people are aware that Habitat for Humanity operates
resale stores. If you plan to renovate a room in your home you may want to check their store for materials, They sell both reclaimed materials as well as surplus (new) items. In addition to building materials they also have home furnishings and appliances. Habitat for Humanity stores are in many metropolitan cities. In Cochise County there is a store in Sierra Vista as well as one in Tucson.
Another source for surplus and reclaimed materials is
DiggersList.com. Clicking the link will take you to DiggersList.com’s Tucson site. DiggersList is a web site for the DIY enthusiast that posts materials and services for sale, DIY tips and videos and lets you post ads to sell surplus materials or request help.

Lowe’s Cos. agreed to a settlement over defective drywall. The settlement calls for Lowe’s to distribute $6.5 million in gift cards and pay up to $2.2 million in attorneys’ fees.
While the issue of “Chinese drywall” has been plaguing homeowners for a few years, Lowe’s says it did not supply drywall from China and admits no wrongdoing.
